Living out the ONA Commitment

Since the General Synod adopted an "Open and Affirming" (ONA) resolution in 1985, churches throughout the denomination have committed to making public statements of welcome to persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. However, becoming ONA is only the first step of living out this call and commitment to being ONA. Under the guidance of popular teacher and workshop facilitator Gwen Thomas, you will:

• Understand the difference between "welcoming" and "affirming."
• Learn to talk about ONA in the congregation.
• Discover ways to promote identity affirmation.
• Learn how to plan a diversity celebration.
